About the group
The Happy Wanderers Renmark walking group operates under the Heart Foundation Walking program, meeting twice a week to promote health, connection and community.
Walks take place every Monday and Thursday morning at 9.30am (asking participants to arrive by 9.20am) starting near the Visitor Information Centre, with a strong focus on inclusivity, wellbeing and social engagement.
Volunteers help keep the group organised and connected, both during walks and through social activities and events.
What roles are available?
The group is currently seeking a:
- Walk Organiser to help lead walks and communicate with the Heart Foundation. This volunteer may assist with coordinating participants, tracking attendance, sharing information about upcoming events, and helping ensure all walkers return safely.
- There are also opportunities to support social activities such as celebrations (like 'milestone' walks, special occasions and birthdays) and the annual Heart Week Walk.
The time commitment aligns with the regular walks (twice weekly), along with occasional coordination tasks.
The group is particularly interested in welcoming new leaders to support future succession planning and encouraging younger members to get involved.
How to get involved?
New volunteers are encouraged to first join a walk, meet the group and experience the welcoming and friendly atmosphere.
Training and support are provided through the Heart Foundation Walking program, along with guidance from current organisers.
From there, those interested can step into a volunteer role such as Walk Organiser and become more involved in leading and supporting the group.
