Bookmark Creek Action Group is a community-led organisation formed in 1997, dedicated to protecting and improving the health of Bookmark Creek and its surrounding wetlands. Through hands-on conservation and environmental monitoring, the group works to support native wildlife, enhance natural habitats and maintain the area as a space for community enjoyment, education and recreation.

What roles are available?

There are a variety of ways volunteers can get involved, with flexible opportunities to suit different interests and availability. No prior experience is needed—just an interest in the environment and a willingness to help.

Volunteer activities include:

  • Attending bi-monthly meetings to assist with planning and coordination
  • Participating in working bees (every second month) to support:
    • Trail maintenance along the Bookmark Creek Trail
    • Rubbish removal and general site upkeep
  • Assisting with environmental monitoring activities, including:
    • Frog monitoring
    • Bird monitoring
    • Fish monitoring (seasonal)
  • Supporting occasional special events or projects

Time commitments are flexible, with meetings held on Wednesday evenings and working bees typically running on Saturday mornings from 9am–11am.

Volunteers can choose to be involved in as much or as little as suits them. Every little bit of help goes a long way and is appreciated.

How to get involved?

Volunteers are welcome to contribute in whatever way suits their interests - whether that’s helping plan activities or getting outdoors at working bees.

It’s a great opportunity to connect with nature, meet like-minded people and make a positive impact on a valued local environment.

Those interested are encouraged to come along, get involved and learn more about how they can help care for this special area.
