Exciting projects underway to support Renmark’s sporting community

12 January 2026

Two major projects at the Alan Coulter Recreation Centre and the Renmark Netball Club courts are set to commence in the coming weeks.

These significant upgrades highlight the strength of local sporting groups and Renmark Paringa Council’s commitment to safe, accessible, and sustainable community facilities.

The Renmark Netball Club received $561,750 in funding last year through the Federal Government’s Play Our Way program to resurface the courts and install new lighting.

The upgrades will improve safety, accessibility, and support female participation in sport, with works scheduled to be completed in time for the 2026 netball season.

Renmark Paringa Mayor Peter Hunter said it was positive to see a local community group seeking opportunities to grow and support their members.

“The project is a great example of a proactive local group identifying and securing a significant funding opportunity,” he said.

“The funding achievement is a testament to the dedication of the volunteers who contribute so much to keeping local sport thriving.

“Council is pleased to manage this project on behalf of the Renmark Netball Club and look forward to seeing the benefits of the upgrades for local netballers and netballers from across the whole region.

Council is also undertaking roof replacement works at the Alan Coulter Recreation Centre, with local builders Michael Kregar Building completing the project.

Works will commence next week and are expected to be finished by early February.

“The roof replacement will improve the safety and functionality of this key community facility while ensuring Council continues to make financially sustainable decisions that support long-term community needs,” said Mayor Hunter.

“These projects demonstrate Council’s ongoing commitment to supporting proactive local groups, maintaining safe and accessible facilities, and making responsible decisions that benefit both the community and the broader Council area.”

Renmark Paringa Council recently undertook community consultation to gather feedback on the Alan Coulter Recreation Centre.

The insights received will help shape future upgrades at the centre, and Council will continue to provide updates as works progress.
