Renmark retail open for business during road rehab works

6 May 2026

Renmark Paringa Council has assured the community the Renmark Square Shopping Centre and surrounding stores are still ‘open for business’, while important road rehabilitation works take place from next week.

The project will deliver upgrades to sections of Industry Road, Nineteenth Street, Para Street and Twentieth Street, in Renmark, to improve road conditions, safety and long-term accessibility for the community and businesses.

Works will be delivered in two stages to help minimise disruption.

Stage one will take place on Industry Road and Nineteenth Street and is expected to take around six weeks to complete.

The timing of stage two, which will encompass Para Street and Twentieth Street, will be communicated once stage one is complete.

Renmark Paringa Mayor Peter Hunter said the Renmark Square Shopping Centre and surrounding retail precinct is a vital part of the community.

“The Renmark Square Shopping Centre is an important hub for our community, and we want to reassure customers that the centre and surrounding businesses are open as usual throughout these works,” he said.

“We encourage everyone to continue supporting our local businesses during this time. Your support makes a real difference to our retailers and helps keep our local economy strong.”

Council is working closely with shopping centre management, surrounding businesses and transport companies to minimise disruption and maintain convenient access to the precinct.

Importantly, the Renmark Square Shopping Centre car park will not be impacted, with parking remaining available for customers.

“We’ve worked hard to ensure that access to the shopping centre remains straightforward, including maintaining full car parking availability,” Mr Hunter said.

“These works are essential for the long-term benefit of our community, and we’re doing everything we can to make sure businesses can continue to operate successfully while they’re underway.”

Mr Hunter also reminded pedestrians and cyclists to take extra care around the construction area.

“We ask pedestrians and cyclists to be mindful when moving through the area, to follow all signage, and to take care when accessing the centre on foot or by bike,” he said.

Council thanks the community and affected businesses for their patience during the construction period.
