Getting Renmark Riverland Rose and Garden Festival Ready
14 October 2024

All-year-round planning and meticulous maintenance has ensured the town of Renmark is ready to welcome visitors for the 30th annual Riverland Rose and Garden Festival.
With a strong history of supporting the event, Renmark Paringa Council staff and contractors work all year round to ensure the local area looks pristine not only for festival but throughout the entire year.
Local contractor Matt Martinson is integral in maintaining the town’s rose bushes, with his expertise and knowledge lending itself to the glorious gardens that Renmark is known for.
Rose bushes are a strong feature of Renmark, with garden beds in median strips, parks and gardens, along the riverfront, truly making the town a sight to behold when the roses blooms with countless different colours and varieties.
While Council’s outdoor team works to guarantee open spaces and gardens are well maintained at all times, specific planning is undertaken to ensure the town is looking its best for the popular event.

Recent activities include trimming palm trees, a task contracted out due to their height, and implementing weed control measures to maintain the town's pristine appearance.
Pre-emergent sprays are also being deployed to reduce weed regrowth through warmer months.
Regular maintenance tasks, though seemingly small, contribute significantly to the overall presentation of the town.
Edging along medians and riverfronts sharpens the town's edges, providing a polished look for residents and visitors alike.
Meanwhile, town entrance areas are also focused on, like the entrance to Paringa, through mowing and whipper snipping to ensure tidy guideposts and signs, plus the maintenance of saltbush on the highway near the Big 4 Caravan Park.
This year, Council has also focused on enhancing green spaces through strategic tree plantings in key locations.
Dix Street Park, Madigan Reserve, and Cedar Avenue Park have all seen new trees added, enriching residential areas and ensuring our area’s future is a shady and environmentally friendly one.
Winter months have been dedicated to mulching efforts, blanketing gardens and parks in preparation for the vibrant rose gardens to bloom.
Community feedback reflects Council's commitment to maintaining Renmark’s beauty.
Recent surveys conducted through the “Love Where You Live” campaign have shown overwhelming appreciation for the town's gardens and open spaces.
This positive response highlights the shared pride among residents and underscores Council's dedication to fostering a welcoming environment.
Safety and functionality also remain high priorities for Council, with regular inspections of playgrounds and public spaces ensure they are well-maintained, particularly during school holidays when families frequent these areas.
As the Riverland Rose and Garden Festival approaches its milestone 30th year, Renmark Paringa Council is focused not only on supporting the significant event, but also on cultivating a vibrant community atmosphere throughout the year.
Each effort – whether it’s trimming, spraying, planting, or maintaining – contributes to a town that residents cherish and visitors admire, ensuring Renmark remains a beautiful destination in every season.
