Council’s pre-budget community survey was undertaken to better understand community priorities, service expectations and emerging concerns ahead of formal consultation. The survey received 51 submissions and highlighted a strong preference for Council to focus on maintaining and renewing existing infrastructure, particularly roads, footpaths, community facilities, parks and open spaces.
Respondents also supported a balanced approach to financial sustainability, favouring moderate rate increases alongside service reviews.
Other key priorities identified included road and footpath safety, upgrades to the Alan Coulter Recreation Centre, economic development, and maintaining the presentation and liveability of the district.
These themes have helped shape the proposed priorities and budget for 2026/27.
