Renmark Paringa Council is reviewing how general rates are shared across different types of properties. This review is about making the rating system fair, simple and up to date - not about increasing the total amount of rates we collect.

Because our community and property values change over time, it’s important to check that the way rates are distributed is still fair and reflects both community needs and the services Council provides. Any change to the rating structure also requires community consultation under the Local Government Act.

The review looks at things like the fixed charge and differential rates (residential, commercial, industrial, primary production and vacant land). We want to make sure the system is clear, equitable, and aligned with how different properties use Council services.

Consultation is open from Thursday 26 March to Thursday 16 April.
